This is ISFiTs new president
After a long debate this evening, the students of Trondheim have chosen who’ll lead the next festival.
Wednesday night, students gathered at the Studentersamfundet to decide who would become the next leader of the International Student Festival in Trondheim. Ahead of the election, Aurora Kolstad and Martin Støldal Gjervan had declared their candidacy for the position).
Topics such as ISFiTs culture programme, what to change for the next festival and which sponsors to cooperate with were amongst those discussed by the candidates.
In the end, Aurora Kolstad was chosen to take on the mantle as the president of ISFiT, with 72 votes (58 percent).
Their chosen theme for the upcoming festival is «Power», with the aim of analysing and understanding different power structures, how they affect students, and how to change them and use it to our own advantage.
– We are currently seeing a change in power and that makes us uneasy. Power can make us uncomfortable and passive, but I want to counter that. The importance of an international student festival is more important than ever, Kolstad says.
– Activism and engagement can be the antidote that carries power to the people.
